The workshop

Buildings that exist nowhere else.

Every piece leaving the workshop is an original design: drawn in the spirit of a place and an era, modelled in 3D with precision, printed, then finished entirely by hand.

The process

From the sketch to the finished piece.

  1. 01

    Drawing

It all starts with a sketch at the workshop: a place, an era, proportions. The building exists nowhere else.

  2. 02

    Modelling

High-precision 3D model: true proportions, printable thicknesses, details that read at the chosen scale.

  3. 03

    Printing

Filament 3D printing, layer by layer, with resolution adapted to each scale. Every print is inspected and trimmed by hand.

  4. 04

    Finishing

Assembly, hand painting, brick textures, controlled weathering and piece-by-piece quality control.

Florian, Craft model maker, Lyon

The founder

Every piece is a workshop design: what matters is that every detail rings true.

Florian · Craft model maker, Lyon

I have been making miniature railway buildings for fifteen years now. At first for my own layout, then very quickly for other enthusiasts.

With QUAI 87 the idea is simple: reliable, well-finished models, true to the spirit of an era. Every piece is designed, 3D printed, assembled and hand painted in the workshop.

Projects adapt to your layout: markings, colours, scale or small facade details.

Our commitments

What we will not do.

A value cannot be checked. A refusal can. Here are the four the workshop has kept since day one.

Frequently asked questions

Lead times, scales, customisation.

What is the lead time for a piece in stock?

Pieces in stock usually ship within 2 to 4 working days after confirmation.

Do you make custom pieces?

Yes. Send photos, plans or references: the workshop estimates feasibility, budget and lead time, usually within 48 h.

Are the pieces painted?

The workshop finish is hand painted and weathered. A raw (print only) or primed version can be offered on request.

Can I ask for another scale?

In most cases, yes. HO (1:87) is the workshop’s reference scale; N (1:160) and O (1:43.5) are studied case by case.

How is shipping handled?

Each piece is padded and packed in the workshop, then shipped with a tracking number. Delivery is available in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. Lead times, costs and returns: see the Delivery and returns page, at the bottom of every page.
